grassroots innovations in Berkeley

met some very interesting people trying to develop new ideas to generate hope among black children who might otherwise belong to a lost generation. shyaam shabaka of eco village ( www.ecovillagefarm.org), who i met through Jeff Romm, Professor, UCB and an old friend of over thirty years, is trying to inovate an new institutional model. He is engaging children who might have been otherwise been fighting onthe streats in urban agriculture. He has created small urban agriculture plots. more later
he recalled in mid west, they used chewing gum for controlling gopher. also to control ants, they fed grits ( maize snack) to them and they coudl not survive after eating the same. where has such knowledge gone away in usa ?
